iQOO 11 5G the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Gaming phone in Malaysia

People have been criticizing phones using snapdragon 8 gen 1 for its poor thermal performance and consequently poor battery life. Qualcomm was quick to respond with its latest introduction of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile processor which delivers 25% faster performance yet 40% less energy consumption.

There are not many phones in the market that come with this chip yet Malaysians are lucky enough to witness the launch of iQOO 11 5G, the first ever Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 gaming phone in Malaysia!

iQOO is now available for purchase with a retail price of RM3,499 via Lazada, Shopee as well as VIvo’s TikTok shop.

So what makes iQOO 11 5G so stand out from the rest of the gaming phone available? Here’s a breakdown of the specification.

Design

The back panel is made with fiberglass and white vegan leather with BMW stripes and stain-resistant coating which prevents fingerprints staining all over it. It’s nice to hold with some tractions preventing it from sliding down easily.

The phone is framed by a slim curved aluminum strip, and here you'll find the usual volume rocker, power button, USB-C port and SIM card tray. It also comes with an IR blaster (which is pretty rare nowadays)

The camera setup gives out a sleek minimalist vibes where the lenses are placed behind a large square glass panel surrounded by a matte aluminum frame.

Performance

As mentioned before, the iQOO 11 5G comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 system-on-chip paired with ample 16GB RAM which can be extended by an additional 8GB virtual memory which gives this phone a whopping 32GB RAM! The Malaysian version comes with a 256GB internal storage while there is no card slot to expand the storage further.

I ran an Antutu benchmark test and it scored 1261144, defeating most phones in the market!

It can run most games in 60fps while some games like Honor of Kings can run up to 120 fps

Camera

The triple rear camera setup comes with a main 50MP camera, 13MP telephoto and a portrait camera with 3x optical zoom as well as an 8MP ultrawide angle camera. The main camera is Samsung's Isocell GN5 module, that's the same one used on the Galaxy S22 series.

Telephoto (Moon Shot)

Macro shot

The selfie camera comes with a 16MP 27mm f/2.5 lens which is pretty decent for a gaming phone.

As for video performance, it is able to capture videos in 1080HD, 4k and also 8k resolutions. However, the ultra stabilization functions only works with 1080p and standard stabilization for 4k shootings.

Battery

iQOO 11 5G comes with a 5000mAh battery and a 120W FlashCharge module which can fully charge the phone within 25 minutes! That’s nuts!

Display

iQOO 11 5G comes with a large 6.78-inch, 1400 x 3200p AMOLED display capable of pushing a 144Hz refresh rate. It also supports LTPO 4.0 technology where the display refresh rate can be automatically switched from 1 Hz to 120 Hz according to different usage scenarios, thus enabling intelligent matching of the refresh rate to keep the display smooth while further reducing the power consumption. This not only brings users a smooth control experience, but also enables a longer battery life.

To wrap up this review, iQOO 11 5G is an excellent phone for all uses either if you’re a heavy gamer or even a pro photographer. With its impressive processing power,  heavy duty battery life, sleek design and amazing camera, this phone is going to be lit!
