Murano Glass

Murano Glass and Murano Glass Jewelry are known and revered around the world for their elegance of design and superb craftsmanship.

The finest raw materials and craftsmanship result in glass of unequaled purity – a trademark of the highly sought after Murano Glass pieces and Murano Glass Jewelry. These beautiful pieces are still made today on a small island just north of Venice using the same methods that has been the Murano Glass trademark for centuries.

A Brief History:

Venetian Glass making originated in Venice in the ninth century. The Venetian Republic, fearing fire, ordered the glassblowers to a small island.
By the fourteenth century the 3000 inhabitants of the island became some of the most respected and revered citizens in all of Venice, granted special privileges and favors by the Republic.

Many glassmaking technologies and techniques were originated on Murano and are still in use today. The making of Murano Glass is a complicated and sophisticated process, as each piece is actually an original hand-made work of art.

Some pieces are functional and some are decorative – all are exquisite. Murano Glass pieces are considered the height of elegance, refinement and good taste, making them a true pleasure to own and to give (and receive!) as gifts.

These hand-made work of art varies from Murano animal figures to Murano glass jewelery

And the award for “Best Video” goes to...Me! Me! Me!

Remember the Airasia Megastore Video I made few months ago? You can find it here. Well, it actually won the grand prize for Mega Shopping Experience Video Contest by Koolred and Airasia Megastore! They even interviewed me (it was my first time actually >_<). So here's the interview!

Koolred (K): Hi Wee! Congrats once again for your winning video submission on Koolred. How does it feel being crowned the Grand Prize Winner?
Wee (W): (laughs) I was overjoyed! To be honest, I was not expecting to be the Grand Prize Winner.
K: So, what made you decide to participate in the video contest?
W: I thought this was a good opportunity to practice my animating skills as it is my passion, and if I could be rewarded at the same time why not? I've always wanted to be a proud owner of the Olympus-PEN camera.
K: Were you nervous prior to the results? Did you find any videos that you thought were really impressive?
W: (laughs) I had my computer turned on the whole day on 11th of October (the result day). I even called my friends to check Koolred's page and to text me if the announcement was made. If I'm not working, I would sit in front of the computer and keep refreshing the Koolred's homepage! In fact, all the videos were awesome! However, the few that caught my attention was the 3D animation by Ivan Lee, "AirAsia Megastore! Shop Now!" and Cyril Dason's "They Deliver". I'm so glad that I won as the competition was really tight.
K: It seems like you went through quite a lot to compile the end product. Do you think you can run through the production process with us? What was the most difficult and easiest part of the production?
W: Unfortunately, there's no easy part in animation production. Seriously, I worked on the animation till 3 in the morning (with my good mate, coffee of course). I'm not sure how other people do their animations but I work based on my mood... or when inspiration kicks in. When the ideas rush in, I would refuse to stop until my body had reached its limits.
With any original production, everything has to start from scratch where I would have my story boarding sketched in papers.

Then I'll slowly redraw everything using Macromedia Flash (a programme which is used to produce flash animations).

My friends have always asked what I use to draw my cartoons with. Well, the only tool I need is the "mouse"!

Once the drawings are animated, I proceed to the narration part. I would also need to create the background music as it was stated in the contest's Terms and Conditions that all music in the entry must be composed by the creator himself. So what I did was the simple, trusted finger snapping technique. Then, I proceed to insert captions into my animation. This process is tricky as you need to make sure that all the captions appear according to the narrations.

At last, the video is complete and ready to be uploaded on Koolred. It's a wrap, and I am finally allowed to sleep (laughs).
K: Wow that's a whole lot of work! But the end result was incredible, nonetheless. So Wee, tell us in no less than 25 words, what is "Koolred" to you?
W: Koolred, to me is a combination of a travel guide and many great social networking sites. It is the coolest community site that offers great travel information and guides, and is a terrific place to socialise with people around the globe.
K: Complete the following sentence: "WOW! AirAsia Megastore has…"
W: WOW! AirAsia Megastore has... all the things you need at the lowest price. Now everyone can buy!
K: Lastly, what do you plan to do with your brand spankin' new Olympus-PEN camera? Have you already started browsing the AirAsia Megastore site for what you intend to buy with your RM300 worth of e-Vouchers?
W: School holidays are just around the corner and I have plans to go travelling to Penang or Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, so my new camera from Olympus will help me capture the best pictures of all these places. Other than that, I can finally upload quality pictures in my blog!
As for the e-Vouchers, my girlfriend and I plan to use them to get a blender and mixer as we enjoy cooking and baking. The e-Vouchers really do come in handy! Thank you, Koolred!

By the way, Koolred is now organising another COOL contest where you can actually win free trips to Bali or Bangkok. All you have to do is just to submit a picture of you or a love one taken at any Asian destination then add a caption on the location of the place and country. Contest ends at 30th Nov 2010
Click here for more details of the contest

There's still another half month to go before the contest ends! Why wait? Join the contest NOW!! I'll be submitting mine soon  >_<

Get Cheesy Crazy with Extreme Cheesey 6 Pizza

How crazy are you with cheese?

Well, that’s how crazy we’re with cheese! Egg even scoop her cream cheese and eating like there’s no tomorrow!
We just can’t get enough of cheese! When Pizza hut introduced their latest Extreme cheesy 6 pizza on the 14th October, we rushed all the way to the nearest Pizza hut and get the 1st bite of it. You can read it here.

Not feeling satisfy with just one extreme cheesy 6 pizza, we returned for MORE!

There’s only one reason that drive us crazy about the Extreme Cheesy 6 Pizza , the cheesylicious PREMIUM CHEESES!!

Instead of showing you the “internet captured” picture of these cheeses, here’s the REAL CHEESES behind the scene!

Yesterday, we went to another branch of Pizza Hut in Kuching for another session of Extreme Cheesy 6 Pizza feast. When we reached Pizza Hut, we were greeted by this Cheese Rangers and a big banner ads! How could Egg miss the opportunity to camwhore? haha!

Along the staircase to the restaurant, there's another ads on the wall and Egg almost bite off the ads -_-" (due to "extreme cheese hunger syndrome")

Finally, we get to sit down and order our pizza! >_<

While waiting for our pizza to be served, Egg can't hold herself and start cutting the pizza in the pizza hut's brochure! Another symptom of "extreme cheese hunger syndrome".

Ki Siao liao! -_-"

as usual, the garlic bread and mushroom soups

Finally, our pizza was served!! by a big piece of cheese? SWT friendly waitress.

Extreme Cheesy 6 Pizza with Pepperoni toppings

*caution! Extreme Cheesy 6 Pizza must be eaten when it's hot and stringy!
look at the cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!

With the mixture of all these cheeses, you’ll get the stringiness and the creaminess with a tinge of sharp nutty taste!
Egg got a little carried away and start practicing her Cheesy 6 Yoga! -_-"

However, there's consequences for eating too much Extreme Cheesy 6 Pizza! You'll get yourself turning into a big piece of cheese!!!!

I think the waitress surely had "curi makan" a lot of Extreme Cheesy 6 Pizza -_-"

Are you crazy about cheese now?

Even our table is 6 -_-"

Here's our little short ads for Pizza hut's Extreme Cheesy 6 Pizza! Enjoy!

I’m crazy about cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!

Movie Marathon! Did we win?

6th November 2010, the moment of truth! We went to MBO as early as 11am and you can actually see a long queue of participants waiting to be registered. Well, let the pictures tell you the story >_<

The Registration Counter where they check our IC and phone numbers
We were then given a wrist band and seat number during the registration
The whole MBO's lobby was filled with participants (200 of them including us)
Everyone was getting ready to enter to the hall

Goodies Bags worth RM250.00!! (all mine!!)
Since the movie marathon had started, I stop taking pictures as we were actually forbid to take pictures in the hall -_-"

Wonder what we watched?

1st  : The time traveler's wife (ratings 4/5)
2nd : The legend is born, Ip Man (ratings 2/5, the ending s*cks)
3rd : Pandorum (ratings, 3/5, too predictable)

We had our 20 minutes dinner break after the 3rd movie.

Everyone went tapao and eat outside the hall to avoid getting disqualified due to late entry
He even tapao chicken rice -_-"
The marathon continues with more movies as follows

4th : 枪王之王 (forgot the English name.. ratings 5/5, best movie so far!)
5th : Love happens (ratings, 4/5, movie by Jennifer Aniston is always good >_<)
6th : 岁月神偷 (a very long English name which I don't remember, 4/5, a very heart warming movie!)
It was so cold during the night as the wind from the air condition keeps blowing to our head
The 1st elimination round was held after the 6th movie. A short sound clip were played and you have to guess the title of the movie. Guess what, almost half of participants in the hall got it wrong!! (we were two of them T_T)

So we end up leaving the hall without the RM2500 cheque! sob~sob~

Anyway, if DiGi is going to do it again next year, we're sure to participate again!! XD

*this is just a filler, still working on a good post! stay tune! :D
